EMS High Power Laser Therapy

At Active Step, our team uses High Power Laser to reduce pain without the need for anti-inflammatories and pain relieving medication and to accelerate our patients’ journey from getting back from injury to doing what they love.

High Power Laser Therapy

High Power Laser Therapy is a safe and effective treatment used to treat; superficial and deep injuries, manage painful symptoms and reduce swelling and inflammation in the joints and muscles.

Our clinical team use it to successfully treat a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions not limited to:

  • Heel pain e.g. plantar fasciitis
  • Tendon Injuries e.g. Achilles tendinitis/tendinopathy
  • Muscular aches and pains e.g. Calf strain, pulled hamstring
  • Ankle injuries
  • Osteoarthritis and joint pains in the shoulder, back, hips, knees, ankle, hands and feet
  • Post surgical swelling following hip and knee joint replacements, foot surgery

High Power Laser administers a 905nm wavelength for immediate pain relief, decreases acute inflammation and accelerates tissue repair. It’s 15 times more powerful than conventional low power lasers, reaching deep into the tissues. It also has a short pulse duration of 100ns to keep the treated area below the thermal threshold which avoids risk of burns to our patients.

If you are suffering from pain or injury then book a consultation with one of our expert clinicians who can diagnose your issue and get you back to pain-free living.

How Does High Power Laser Therapy Work?

Laser therapy works by delivering concentrated light energy deep into the tissues at a therapeutic wavelength (905nm). This stimulates cellular activity, increasing blood flow and oxygen delivery to the injured area. The result is:

  • Accelerated tissue repair and regeneration
  • Reduced pain signals from nerves
  • Decreased swelling and inflammation
  • Faster return to activity

Unlike medications that only mask pain, laser therapy helps the body heal itself from the inside out.

Benefits of EMS High Power Laser Therapy

Key benefits our patients experience include:

  • Immediate pain relief – many feel improvement after the first session.
  • Drug-free and non-invasive – no reliance on anti-inflammatories or steroid injections.
  • Accelerated recovery – helps athletes and active individuals return to sport more quickly.
  • Safe for repeated use – no harmful side effects or tissue damage.
  • Effective even for chronic conditions – such as long-term plantar fasciitis or tendon injuries.

  1. Your clinician will identify the treatment area and explain the process.
  2. The handheld laser device is applied to the skin, emitting short pulses of light energy.
  3. You may feel a gentle warming sensation, but it should not be painful.
