Bunions Conditions
Our Musculoskeletal Podiatrists are skilled at reducing pain and improving mobility in bunion joints to help you stand and walk for longer and have more choice of shoes that you can comfortably wear.
“Bunion” is a term used to describe an enlarged big toe joint that is usually deviating at an angle to the foot! It’s also known as Hallux Valgus and is often concurrent with an arthritic big toe joint that may be painful and stiff.
Bunions can affect both men and women and on occasion adolescents. There are many contributing variables that can lead to bunion development from family history, joint hypermobility, foot posture, activity levels and poor footwear choices.
Our Musculoskeletal Podiatrists are experienced at managing bunions and can diagnose and identify causative factors through our Initial Consultation with Video Gait Analysis.
The treatments we offer for bunions are:
- Custom Foot Orthoses
- Injection Therapy
- Taping & Strapping
- Footwear Advice

I can actually finally have confidence that I will run again.Anxo Vilas2023-01-18I went to Active Step after trying over the counter products as well as other podiatrists for years while my condition was getting worse instead of better. The service I got at Active Step couldn't have been any better and I've just been discharged successfully after 12 months of treatment. Jim, Zoe, Sophie and the rest of the team are not only highly professional, but also very personable and I cannot recommend them enough.Google rating score: 5.0 of 5, based on 169 reviews
